M: When Chris and I set about finding an apartment, we decided that we wanted cheap and funky. We ended up overshooting funky, and wound up with plain old dilapidated.
D: This is the exterior— yes, exterior— of the apartment we wound up staying in. What blinds are doing on the outside of the windows is a mystery the American mind cannot begin to comprehend.
M: There was no way to open or close these blinds. We could see the bodies of those who had tried before, littering the courtyard, three floors down.
